One of the healthiest vegetable in the world is asparagus. Sadly, not everyone is a big fan of this veggie. Some find its taste bland or unappetizing at all. However, there are many ways to make asparagus as tasty as other vegetable in the market. With just a little touch of flavoring, your asparagus would transform into one delicious treat.
In addition, asparagus is good for your health since it has high amount of folate, glutathione, vitamin B6 and vitamin C. This is a great addition to your daily diet, in fact, it is the best detox vegetable, not to mention, anti-aging too.
When it comes to cooking asparagus, it is best to use fresh asparagus. It is normally available from late February up to June. After purchasing, do not stock them in the fridge for more than 5 days, they would lose their freshness. The best thing to do is cook them as soon as possible. You can either steam, sauté, or grill asparagus, just to name a few. Cooking via microwave and oven are commonly used.
Unlike using oven, microwave does not take much of your time, and simpler to do. How to microwave asparagus is perfect for newbie that don’t have experience in cooking. Further, fresh asparagus can be prepared and cook in microwave for less than 10 minutes.
However, you have to mindful of its freshness, because if not, it can have a bitter flavor. Choose asparagus that has green stalks that is not wrinkled or dry. The vegetable is sold by bunch, in every bunch there are about 14 to 18 spears.

Ingredients:
- 1 bunch of asparagus
- 1 tsp water
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
1. Rinse one bunch of asparagus under running water.
2. Cut the bottom part of the stalk, about 1/3.
3. Peel the coverings of the stalk until they are the same thickness as the tip, to ensure even cooking.
4. Place the stalks in a rectangular dish.
5. Pour one tablespoon of water. Sprinkle small amount of salt and pepper.
6. Using plastic wrap, cover the dish. Leave a small opening to allow steam to escape.
7. Set the temperature of the microwave on high heat. Allow to cook for about 3 minutes. Be careful not to overcook the veggie, because it will become mushy.
8. When the microwave time sound, carefully remove the asparagus.
9. Serve hot with your sauce of choice.
