How to Make Chicken Soup?

There is something about chicken soup that never fails to provide comfort, especially on a cold rainy night.  Its aroma and flavor is just too much to resist.  Apart from that, chicken soup is often prescribed when you are suffering from any sickness or if you are not feeling well, since this soup does not contain strong ingredients that might irritate your stomach, plus, it taste good too.

Moreover, varieties of chicken soup recipes are dime a dozen.   Choices range from chicken rice soup, chicken noodle soup, spicy chicken soup, to broccoli chicken soup, and lots of other recipes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 piece chicken (5 pounds)
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 cubes of chicken bouillon
  • Parsley
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 pieces carrots (chopped)
  • 2 celery stalks (chopped)
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2.5 quarts of water (cold)

Directions for how to make chicken soup

1. Thoroughly wash the chicken.


2. Do not include the chicken skin, as much as possible since it has high fat content.
3. Slice the chicken meat into quarter pieces, and put them in a stock pot.
4. Pour the cold water, scatter some salt, and toss the bay leaf.
5. Bring the water to a boil by placing lid to cover the pot.
6. When it starts to boil, remove the cover, as well as the froth that had formed on the top    layer.  Let it simmer for about 2 to 2.5 hours.
7. Toss the remaining ingredients along, which include celery, parsley, onion and carrots unto the pot.
8. Allow to simmer for 45 minutes.


9. The chicken soup is now ready to be served.
10. You may also add noodles or rice dumpling ingredients to load up your chicken soup.
11.  For extra flavorings, add coriander leaves or sweet corn.
