Flank steak is also called bavette. It is a steak cut of beef that came from the flank of the cow. The meaty part or the flank steak is located between the leg and the ribs of the animal. Some of the reasons why this steak cut is a best seller are the fact that it is super flavorsome, not to mention, boneless. Since it is an excellent choice of meat, flank steak is often used in various cuisines.
Before we went through the process of grasping the techniques on how to cook flank steak, you have to start with the most basic, marinating the meat. Do not worry though, how to cool flank steak is not complicated. But you must remember that it is essential that you properly cooked the steak cut to ensure that the meat is soft enough to chew.
Additionally, flank steak can be cook in different ways. For instance, you can have grilled steak cuts – the most common. Besides that, broiling, stuffing and baking are also possible.
Here is a recipe for grilled flank steak:
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds flank steak
- Salt
- Ground pepper
To marinade:
- Olive oil
- 1/2 tsp Ground black pepper
- Garlic
- 1/2 cup Honey
- 2 tbsp Red wine
- 1/3 cup Soy sauce
Procedure:
1. Make about ¼ inch cuts on the surface of the steak. Gather all the ingredients for marinade, and mix them all in a bowl. Submerge the flank steak in the marinade mix.
2. Make sure that all sides of the meat are well covered with the marinade mix. Place the marinated steak in the refrigerator for at least a few hours or utmost 12 to 24 hours for ultimate flavor.
3. Begin cooking the steak cut by coating the grill rack with olive oil. Preheat the grill at high heat until it is hot.
4. Remove the meat from the marinade bowl or bag. Sprinkle appropriate salt and pepper on all areas of the steak cut.
5. Grill for 5 minutes on each side. After 2 and half minutes, turn the meat to attain grill indention’s.
6. Remove the meat from the grill and transfer to chopping board.
7. Allow the flank steak to rest for about 10 minutes covered with aluminum foil to keep the heat.
8. Cut the steak into smaller size (depending on your preference).
9. You may garnish it with coriander leaves or onion before serve.
10. Serve and savor each bite
