Basic Banana Pudding Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 4 firm ripe bananas
  • 3 egg yolks (large)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups milk
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • Whipped cream (sweetened) or whipped topping
  • Vanilla wafer cookies
  • Banana slices (for garnishing)
  • 3 tbsp butter

Directions:

1. In a large bowl, mix the sugar salt, flour, and blend, then, stir well.  Slowly pour the milk.  Stir the milk until there are no lumps present.

2. Pour the mixture over the double boiler with simmering water.  Cook the mixture at the same time whisk continuously until the consistency thickens.

3. In another bowl, whisk the yolks along with 1 cup of the heated milk mixture.  Pour the mixture into the double broiler.  Add the vanilla and butter, whisk continuously.  Cook it until the texture thickened.  Remove from the boiler, then, set aside for a few minutes to cool.

4. Prepare a 2-quart serving dish, and make a layered banana on top of vanilla wafers.  Spoon some pudding on top of the banana layer, then, place vanilla wafers and banana slices over each banana layer.

5. Topped the layers with whipped cream.  You may add mint sprig and slices of banana to garnish the servings.

6.  Serve and enjoy!
